Twitter is becoming and addiction for me. I know have over 16,500 updates in less than a year of being active on twitter!
Over this time I have learned a lot about getting retweets, driving traffic, meeting new people and connecting with your target market through twitter. I have grown my business and made so many connections through twitter I am extremely blessed.
Today I want to share with you a couple tips for using twitter for networking. Many people tweet and tweet but don’t meet and meet! good one huh?
twitter is a place for people to tweet and meet and one of the first things that i cover in detail in the twitter influence course is finding your target market because once you find your target market all you have to do is connect with them.
Today I am going to share with you 2 tips that will help you network on twitter and make more business connections faster.
- The first BIG tip is to simple watch your twitter account more carefully. You need to watch for people that you currently know and are following and see who they are talking too. Click through to their twitter profile every once in a while and check it out. I have met so many people by simply looking at who my current network and friends are talking too. Just give them a simple introduction, a compliment about their profile or website usually works best and let them know that you have a mutual contact and that you just started following them. Tell them that you want to get to know them better and there is a 99% chance that they will follow you back. This is a great way to network in twitter and works extremely well so be sure to use it!
- The second tip is great too and it works quite well too. All you have to do in your twitter update is simply ask for a connection or referral. I have tweeted “does anyone know a good web designer, coder, twitter expert… etc. etc.” Fill in the blank! By simply asking for referrals and if anyone knows the type of person that you are looking for there is a good chance someone will @reply you and let you know who they are and personally introduce you both. Sometimes the asking alone get’s new people to introduce themselves to you and there you go asking to meet new people in a certain area and they start raising their hands! It’s simple and it works.
Implement both of these strategies on twitter and i think that you will see you will start to build a stronger network on twitter that will turn into contacts that you call on the phone or have skype conversations with. This happens to me all the time, I will meet someone in twitter and then we will eventually chat on the phone or skype. Just keep using these principles and being active and you will grow a strong network that proves to be valuable. I have gotten more opportunities to market myself and more opportunities to partner through twitter recently than I can handle and you can too if you continue to learn and take action.
