Twitter is a simple site and it’s simple to succeed with twitter, You just have to know what to do, what works and do it over and over again.
These 3 steps that I will be covering very briefly in this blog post are the 3 main things that I cover in the twitter influence course.
I like to think of myself as a twitter expert, don’t worry other people do as well! haha!
These 3 lessons are simple here but you can become really curious to see how much better you can make it and that’s somewhat how the twitter influence course, blog and newsletter came about. Over time I had learned so much from all these blogs, books on twitter, courses on twitter and social media training that I figured I should see if I could improve on what I learned from these social media experts and improve on it in twitter alone.
So… that’s what I did!
The 3 things that you want to focus on in twitter are simple.
They are…
- Having the right image/brand/setup.
- Finding your target market.
- Connecting with your target market.
This is the main basis of the twitter influence course but I share so much more with you in it like how to get retweeted, how to build better relationships faster and so on and so forth. I’m not here to sell the course though so I’ll jump into these 3 steps to twitter success.
The first one is simple, once your done with it you really don’t need to worry about it. Your brand is an image and you just need to make sure you have the right image and brand.
these are the things that You have to “present” yourself in twitter.
* Background - Should be a custom designed background with a bigger picture of you smiling. You should also capitalize on the virtual real estate in the background with your other websites/blogs etc. I got my background done at twitter designs.
* profile picture - Should be a close up of you smiling, people are more open and willing to connect with people that are smiling. This is one of the many ways to build a better relationship faster.
* Name - In my opinion you should mainly tweet from your twitter account that is your name. Why? because your name is a brand and people want to connect with people NOT a company. Build your name as a brand and forget the products and services that you represent!
* Link - Optimally your link should point to your blog, but If you are releasing a product or promoting something it is ok to point that link to that page.
* Bio - you get 160 characters in your twitter bio, this is really important and most people don’t get it right. You want to use half of it to tell who you are and the other half to tell what you do. 80 characters devoted to you and 80 characters devoted to what you do in business. The reason you want to share both sides of you is because people will see that you are balanced and aren’t there to spam and sell things. You want to include what you do though so that people will come to you for advice and recommendations.
That sums it up for the Brand/Image/Setup in twitter.
The next thing is finding your target market.
You can find your target market in several ways.
* http://Search.twitter.com - You can use search.twitter.com to search keywords related to your market so that you can find people to connect with. There are also many other sites that search twitter for links, tweets or hashtags. Twitterfall.com is another great example.
* gurus/experts - You can go through current experts followers list and find your target market in there. Only follow people that you can connect with and build a relationship with though.
After you find your target market you are going to want to follow the one’s that you feel that you can connect with and then you want to build relationships through twitter and take them through your marketing funnel and into your business world somehow.
The last step is building relationships.
I just realized that this post is already over 700 words so it’s becoming a little drawn out so I am going to keep it brief and if you want to really learn all 3 of these things really well you can pick up the twitter influence course at http://tweeterinfluence.com/therealdeal
Building relationships is really all about these 3 things.
* helping - helping people where and when you can. If you are helpful to people they will begin to know, like and trust you and as you will learn in the twitter influence course the more targeted people you get to know like and trust you the more people will be in business with you in one way or another.
* caring - This may sound fishy but anytime you show that you care for people and that you care about them by taking action to show them by tweeting them “get well soon” or “I can help you with that” etc… the more people will get to know, like and trust you and build a relationship with you.
* sharing - One of the greatest ways to establish yourself as an expert and build better relationships on twitter faster is to simply find people that are asking questions related to your market or business. This is extremely powerful and you may have heard me share this in one of my interviews more in detail. If you can simply find people asking questions that you can give them exactly what they need you will establish yourself as an expert in 5 seconds and they will also look to you for future advice.
That’s it for this blog post!
