Twitter is viral marketing

When I think of all the social media sites out there I think of twitter as the site with the highest “Viral Factor” stick with me here I will explain viral factor in a minute.

I think of twitter as being the site with the highest viral factor out of all the social media websites on the web and the reason why is simply because of Re-tweeting.

What other social networking, social media or social bookmarking site allows you to “re-broadcast” information from someone else to your followers with literally a click of a button?

Facebook, myspace, youtube, and all the other sites i think of do not have a “re-broadcast” factor like twitter does in re-tweeting.

This allows you to get much more exposure than what you are currently used to in the other sites you are using with your marketing if you use it in the right way.

People don’t just Re-tweet your tweets for no apparent reason.  I re-tweet for my followers for a variety of reasons, I will list those here so you can keep them in mind when you want people to re-tweet your tweets in twitter so that you can get more viral exposure to your target market.

• Reciprocate - If you are not re-tweeting for your followers there is a high chance that they will not want to re-tweet for you therefore killing the viral factor in your tweets so be sure to re-tweet for others.
• Likable content - No one wants to hear the news or general information in social media that they can find on their own, find unique content that people like and that would get re-tweeted simply because it’s a funny video, it’s unique and interesting.  Find what people like and give it to them.
• Interact - One of the biggest reasons that i get re-tweeted is because i interact with my followers.  Most of the times that i get re-tweeted it is from a follower that i have connected with and built a relationship with.  build relationships and your re-tweets will grow as well.
• ASK! - One of the reasons i also get re-tweets on twitter is because i simply ask in my tweet for my followers to re-tweet it.  I will say “pls RT” at the end or something simple like that and more people will re-tweet it so be sure to ask when you want something ot be re-tweeted.

I hope that these lessons that i have learned on twitter help you grow your twitter following and interaction ratio.
